Community Art Space

Introduction to In The Round
In The Round, based in Canton, Ohio, is a multimedia systems, services, and content creation company dedicated to the integration of the creative arts, cutting-edge technologies and effective communications practices.

We work with organizations of all sizes and provide comprehensive solutions from equipment infrastructure through message development to content creation.

In celebration of In The Round’s recent move into our new facilities, and as a part of our ongoing involvement in, and support of the creative arts, we’re happy to announce the opening our Community Art Space.

Community Art Space Overview
The goal of the Art Space is to feature and promote the works of local artists in a variety of visual media. The pieces will be exhibited on an ongoing basis in the ITR community area, meeting room, and workspaces on a rotating basis.

Pieces will be displayed for 1-6 months, by arrangement with the artist. A brief summary about the artist and the work will be made available in an accessible format (contact information or indications that a work is for sale may optionally be included).

Currently displayed artists and art will also be highlighted on the In The Round website.

Themes
While we encourage submissions in a variety of media and themes, in keeping with our vision, we encourage pieces that explore the artistic process “in the round.” As artists ourselves, we know there is nothing quite so magical as being in that zone of inspiration, being one musician in the middle of vibrant performance group, or waiting in the wings moments before going onstage. Consider the following themes for inspiration:

  1. Exploring the relationship of artist and tool (technological or otherwise)
  2. Exploring the relationship of artist and the creative process
  3. Exploring the relationship of artist and performance environment
  4.  “Lifting the curtain” or “removing the frame” to experience the art from the performer’s,  creator’s, or other non-audience perspective view
  5. Exploring the interaction of art and technology
  6. Other themes welcome

Submissions
To have your work considered, please submit the following via email to artspace@intheround.com.
  1. A digital photo of each piece to be considered
  2. Approximate dimensions of each piece
  3. Artist’s name, phone number, email address
  4. Length of time you’re willing/prefer to have your piece displayed
  5. Optional: a description of each piece’s theme or inspiration

Practical Things
  1.  Works must be ready to be hung on a vertical wall surface (framed or otherwise mountable)
  2. Artist is responsible for delivery and retrieval of the art piece(s).
  3. Artists will be asked to sign a waiver releasing In The Round from liability for any loss or damage that may occur to a piece. (Artists are encouraged to check that their art is properly insured through their home owner’s or other insurance policy.)
  4. In The Round or its designated representatives will have sole and complete discretion in choosing pieces for display.
  5. This is In The Round’s effort to encourage, enjoy, and provide exposure for local artists. We are not able to compensate artists for their time or expenses, but hope that participation has its own rewards.
